Completion. Release. A New Beginning.
Friday, Mom enjoyed her final meal with her friends at the assisted living space she has been in for 7ish years.
Vera wears the bronze bib.
Polly sits in her wheelchair, she used her own feet to pull herself around for the photo.
Mom boasts the sunglasses perched on her silver hair, prepared for departure.
10 minutes later Mom walked out the door for the final time with me at her side, to stay at the Hilton near the airport prepared for a 8am flight.
Most men and women leave because 1. they can no longer afford it, 2. they are being taken to the hospital or 3. taken to the morgue.
Mom has broken all her own rules. July 2025 she told me she would never travel again and never move again.
Her final dinner is to create a new beginning.
To begin a phase of life we have named, The Embodied Independence Experience. She has decided to move to Honolulu with me, to soak in her beloved ocean breeze(the whoosh she calls it) and release the belief systems that are no longer serving.
It’s hitting me today. I feel vulnerable. I feel honored. I feel scared. I have shared this invitation and she received it. This is my invitation to myself to step out of what no longer serves, and show up, as the woman I was born to be.
Where are you ready for a new beginning? Are you being invited by life to a new beginning and hesitating because it means stepping into the unknown? I get it. Me too.
What I know is any of us can begin anew when we know beyond doubt, we have our breath and we have our feet. Will you breathe into your feet with me now? Imagine these little creations with 5 toes each, holding you each step of the way. Imagine the breath flowing through every cell of your body, superpowering your next step.
