Power or Pressure, it's Our Choice

August 24, 20262 min read

Power or pressure, it's a choice.
When I resist this moment of life, I feel pressure. The mind goes to lack of time, resources, the. mind. goes.

When I choose presence, it's all here. Space. Creativity. Simplicity. Curiosity. I have all my resources.

I didn't recognize this choice for many years. I knew chaos, thrived under pressure, wasn't sure what to do with myself when space opened up. I used food, friends, video games to fill the time.

I wasn't comfortable being, without doing, something.

Today, I recognize the pressure in my nervous system and thinking as a red flag, calling me to come to a full stop and breathe. It feels like my head is going to explode, exhaustion, and resistance to it all.

Today that pressure was felt. I'm in Kalamazoo, Michigan and I get to slow down to after the past few have been full speed ahead. The thinking was telling me all the things that needed my attention while I am not on deck with the client today. The authentic part of me felt the red flag and came to full stop.

I wasn't having fun playing the game of life. I was serious-ing myself and creating pressure. I stopped.

Now I can celebrate by saying, I've looked after many things today while also taking myself out to see this beautiful place I am visiting and writing a note to myself on my hotel window!(see pics for a few of the moments).

For me, all of it can be fun or all of it can be one more thing to check off the list.(ie: a pain in my arse)

I know, when I am having fun, it's powerful and SO FUN.
When I am head down focused to get things DONE, it's high pressure and not fun for me OR anyone else.

Can you relate? Isn't it crazy to notice how we can do the same thing and one time it can be so fun and the next frustrating?
I know this recognition gave me pause several years ago when I really started seeing, it's all an inside job!
